Scott Smith, DVM

Dr. Scott Smith is a native of Denham Springs, LA.  He is the son of the late Dr. Jimmy Smith.  He is a graduate of Denham Springs High School class of 1989 and is a graduate of Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine class of 1997.  He has been in private practice in Denham Springs since graduation.  He joined Live Oak Animal Hospital in 2021 as the lead veterinarian.  He is committed to practice quality patient care and strives to have effective client communication.  It is important to him for his clients to be involved in the care of their patients and this is achieved through client education and communication.

Dr. Smith is married to Melynda Smith, and they share 6 children and 5 grandchildren (with the 6th grandchild due in January).  He enjoys sports, especially LSU football and baseball.  He enjoys spending time with his family and looks forward to family dinner every Sunday.  In his free time, he likes to travel, especially to destinations involving water.  His favorite hobbies (which he doesn’t get to do very often) are scuba diving and fishing.

Dr. Smith is looking forward to fulfilling the needs of the clients of Live Oak Animal Hospital.
